Fuel Suppliers
The Government’s contracted fuel providers are Shell, Mobil, Caltex and United Petroleum.
Mobil is the preferred supplier for the metropolitan region for ULP, PULP and diesel.
In regional areas, the order of preference is Shell, then Mobil and then Caltex.
United Petroleum is the exclusive supplier of E10 (a blend of 90% petrol and 10% ethanol). Drivers of government vehicles are required to use ethanol-blended fuel where practical, available and cost-effective.
The contract is mandatory for Victorian Government departments and optional for other government organisations.
Further information on the contract, including the Rules of Engagement governing its use, is available at the Victorian Government Purchasing Board’s website – www.vgpb.vic.gov.au
Fuel Cards
Fuels cards are available from departmental fleet managers and must be used as described in the Victorian Government Purchasing Board’s Rules of Engagement (see www.vgpb.gov.au).
No purchases other than fuel and oil are permitted on fuel cards, and cards may not be used for the purchase of any product for private use.
It is mandatory that all drivers provide an accurate odometer reading each time they refuel their vehicle. This information is transferred electronically from fuel suppliers and is used to track when vehicles are due for replacement or servicing and to monitor fuel usage and efficiency.
