The State Government Vehicle Pool (SGVP) provides a value for money and high-quality vehicle rental service for all Victorian Government departments and agencies.
Under the Whole-of-Government Standard Motor Vehicle Policy, in times of temporary vehicle shortage, when all department or agency vehicles are fully committed and public transport is unsuitable or unavailable, the State Government Vehicle Pool can supply vehicles for short or medium-term use. Request for Transport

Long and Short-Term Hire
Vehicles are available for long and short term hire. Vehicles are charged on a daily rate and this includes public holidays and weekends.
SGVP Payment Terms
SGVP payment terms in line with government policy are strictly 30 days from date of invoice. SGVP reserves the right to stop hiring cars to the relevant business unit if an account remains unpaid beyond 90 days.
Vehicle Choice
SGVP offers a range of vehicles, including a hybrid, medium sedans, large sedans and wagons and 8-seater passenger buses. You can hire a vehicle with either "red" or private registration plates.
Insurance
All vehicles are comprehensively insured. In the event of an accident, or emergency breakdown, the Roadside Assistance Kit in the glove box provides fleet assistance information. A replacement vehicle will be provided whilst repairs are undertaken. Clients will be charged an insurance excess where it is deemed that the departmental driver is at fault. Roadside Assistance
All vehicles are covered by a 24-Hour Roadside Assistance Package. A service card with a free-call telephone number is provided as part of the package.
Fuel Cards
A fuel card is provided with every vehicle and can be used for all fuel and oil purchases.
Note: all vehicles should be returned with the fuel tank at least half full.
Street Directory
If you require a street directory, simply request one when you collect your vehicle.
Infringement Management
Traffic and Infringement management is provided by the SGVP. ALL DRIVERS are personally responsible for all penalties incurred.
Servicing
All vehicles hired are maintained to the manufacturer's specifications and are quality controlled for cleanliness and safety standards. If a vehicle is hired for an extended period and a service is due, a replacement vehicle will be provided while the service is being performed. All servicing will be arranged for you.
