A - The Victorian Government is committed to supporting the Australian automotive industry. This committment is demonstrated by the Government's policy to buy only Australian-made vehicles wherever possible. There are no small cars currently manufactured in Australia.

A - The Government has a number of strategies in place to ensure the environmental impacts of the vehicle fleet are minimised. The Government has significantly increased the proportion of LPG and four-cylinder vehicles in the fleet, and continues to purchase increasing numbers of hybrid cars. Government drivers are now required to use ethanol-blended fuels wherever available, practical and cost-effective. A - Departments generally meet the cost of insurance excesses, but check with your fleet manager. Note that insurance may be void if there is any evidence of drugs or alcohol, and in such cases the driver may have to meet all costs.
